Study Skills and Use of Reading, Writing and Learning Software: Kurzweil 3000
Frequently, students who do not read efficiently also lack the study skill sto complete academic work independently. Direct instruction is often necessary given the complexity and hierarchical nature of both organizationl and study skills. The goal i sto have students incorporate the skills listed below into their daily learning:
Organizing materials;
Locating and formulating main ideas;
Two-column note-taking;
Summarizing: and
Generating questions.
The skills are learned first in isolation and then practiced across the curriculum using the Three Key Routine, a comprehension strategy developed by Joan Sedita.
